Charm Tests for Healthcare Charm provides healthcare facilities with fast and simple cleanliness tests with the novaLUM® luminometer, used with PocketSwab® Plus swabs on surfaces and with WaterGiene swabs in water. In these tests, healthcare administrators have a very powerful tool for monitoring environmental cleanliness and preventing the spread of healthcare associated infections.
Charm’s tests measure the total ATP found in a sample from all organic sources, which include pathogens and bodily fluids. The tests take seconds to perform and are an easy, cost-effective way for workers to determine if an area needs to be re-cleaned, ultimately reducing the risk of infection and cross-contamination.

PocketSwab Plus for Healthcare The PocketSwab Plus is a room-temperature stable, self-contained, single service ATP hygiene test that provides results in just five seconds. All ATP on a surface, whether from bacteria, fungi, blood, mucus, or other sources, is measured.
Testing can be performed in areas of concern, such as hospital rooms, kitchens, surgical areas, and central sterile units. You can quickly test key surfaces, including furniture in patient rooms, linens, kitchen surfaces, and cleaning and surgical equipment. Simply swab the area with PocketSwab Plus, insert the swab into the test reagents, then read the swab in the novaLUM luminometer.
Researchers evaluated three ATP test systems for their ability to monitor sanitized hospital surfaces as an infection control practice. The study validated ATP measurement for monitoring the cleanliness of healthcare surfaces. Of the three ATP tests, only the novaLUM and PocketSwab Plus was recommended for use in hospitals without protocol modification.
