Microbial Detection
Early Detection to Prevent Disease Outbreak
According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), researchers have identified more than 250 foodborne diseases, caused by a variety of bacteria and viruses. Bacteria and viruses that contaminate food are the most common types of foodborne pathogens and can cause illness, hospitalization, and even death.
The overall management of microbial contaminants to ensure food safety starts with the solid design of your overall food safety processes, products, and procedures. The reality is that while testing finished food and beverage products can be considered a control measure, early detection of contaminants provides more proactive control when it’s part of your food safety program.
Charm provides a variety of rapid microbial tests for food and water to detect contamination that can impact shelf-life and even product flavor. Trust our decades of testing solutions across multiple areas of the food safety industry and put your food safety program on the right track with science-based tests that will empower you to proactively prevent contamination through accurate testing solutions that include:
Peel Plate
Peel Plate microbial tests use a traditional microbial detection platform to detect aerobic bacteria and coliforms/E. coli. This test is used to identify microbial contaminants in dairy products, ground meats and other foods, contact surfaces, and water.
E*Colite
E*Colite is a single use, self-contained test with selective medium designed to resuscitate and detect chlorine-stressed coliform and E. coli that is can be found in drinking, bottled, as well as food and beverage waters. It is also an EPA approved Analytical Method for National Drinking Water Regulations, and for Compliance Monitoring under the Ground Water Rule.
PathoGel
PathoGel is a single use, self-contained test with selective medium designed to detect coliform, E. coli and hydrogen sulfide producing enterobacteriaceae (e.g., salmonella, citrobacter) in food, beverages, and waters.
Fast Phage
Fast Phage tests provide rapid detection of coliphage, a viral structure that is an indicator of fecal contamination in water.
EPIC System
The Charm EPIC System lets you measure the sterility of white milks, flavored milks, soy beverages, creams, yogurt-based drinks, lactose-free milk, ice cream, and shake mixes, rice milk, condensed milk, and nutritional drinks. Our microplate bioluminescence system measures microbial ATP to allow you to predict spoilage in shelf-stable, ultra-high temperature (UHT), and extended shelf-life (ESL) beverage products.
